Golden Axe Warrior – Sega (1991)

What happens when you combine the hack ‘n slash title Golden Axe with Nintendo’s break-thru RPG The Legend of Zelda? Well, you get a Zelda clone with Golden Axe characters. This game almost seems like it is running Zelda code as it is so similar. This isn’t a bad thing at all because it is actually a good game!

The game begins with a tale of a great war between the giants and the elders. A braze warrior came forward and helped to defeat the giants thanks to the Golden Axe, a gift from Thor’s Spirit of Thunder. Peace didn’t last long as a powerful giant, Death Adder, brought death and destruction back to the land and it is up to you to save the day.

The graphics are very nice for a Sega Master System game...

Ghouls ‘N Ghosts – Capcom (1990)

This is a sequel to the awesome (but extremely hard) Nintendo Entertainment System game Ghosts ‘N Goblins.  This is one of those games that does show off how powerful the Sega Master System really was and it is sad that it never reached the level of popularity that the Nintendo Entertainment System did.

The story is your typical knight rescuing the princess but this game isn’t about a story, it is about action and besides some minor slow down you are definitely going to find lots of action.

The graphics are outstanding and blow away the original on the Nintendo Entertainment System..  They are crisp and clean and definitely draw you into the action.  You might even mistake it for the Genesis version at quick glance.  Yes, it is that good!
